Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) under the Visit Maldives brand, along with 45 travel and tourism companies and 100 representatives are showcasing the ‘Sunny Side of Life’ at the ITB China 2024.

The Maldives is the “Official Partner Destination” for this prestigious event that launched on Monday, May 27, and will run until Wednesday, May 29, at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center, China.

ITB China is amongst the leading exclusive trade shows with a main focus on the Chinese travel market. The event brings together top and hand-selected buyers from Greater China and Chinese industry professionals from all over the world.

MMPRC’s participation as the ‘Official Partner Destination’ at this year’s ITB China edition, will assist in elevating the island nation’s presence within the Chinese market and travel sector. ITB China 2024 will provide a significant platform for the Maldivian tourism industry partners to showcase their individual products and properties in the key market.

The Maldives’ stand at the ITB China 2024 is designed to showcase the rich heritage and vibrant hues of the island nation, offering a taste of the unique experiences of the country awaiting visitors.

Moreover, Visit Maldives will be conducting several events on the sidelines of the ITB China 2024, most notably the “Maldives Media Meet” press conference, which was held on the inaugural day itself.

The media meet facilitated connecting with leading Chinese and global media representatives to provide the latest information about the Maldives tourism industry and its growth and progress.

Besides this, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between MMPRC and Weixin Pay, to enhance collaborations between the two organizations.

China is a key source market for the Maldives, having reclaimed top market spot following its resumption of outbound travels post the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. As of May 22, the Maldives has welcomed over 95,000 Chinese tourists, making up 11.2% of the total arrivals so far in 2024.
