Bank of Maldives (BML) on Monday, June 10, introduced its US dollar ATM service in K. Maafushi – known as a guesthouse hub in the Maldives.

The new ATM installed at Maafushi branch will support individuals and businesses in withdrawing and depositing USD conveniently. This is the first USD ATM established outside Male’ City.

“We are delighted to introduce the first USD ATM in Maafushi to cater to the growing need for USD deposits and withdrawals on the island. The Maafushi economy is thriving and as the nation’s biggest bank, we are here to support individuals and businesses with 24/7 banking,” said Moosa Nimal, Director of Retail, Business and SME of the bank.

The USD ATM establishment in Maafushi comes after the bank recently announced expansion of its services at Maafushi BML Branch to offer a full range of banking solutions and services.

Maafushi Branch now operates as a full-fledged branch offering all services including USD deposits and withdrawals, loans and financing applications, cheque deposits, issuing statements and currency exchanges.

The island is home to more than a dozen of hospitality and tourist properties; all locally owned ventures, and welcomes a large influx of tourists per annum, with many of them making payments at these properties and other establishments on the island in US dollars.

The existence of a USD ATM allows these businesses to conveniently deposit US dollars received in cash to their respective bank accounts without the need for a round trip to Male’ City for the purpose.
