    Over 993k tourists fly to the Maldives; less than 7k to hit one million!

    Maldives welcomes over 993,000 tourists so far in 2024; less than 7,000 to hit one-millionth arrival milestone

    The Maldives has attracted a total of 993,328 tourists to the island nation as of June 25, 2024 – indicating the leading tourist destination four years in a row, is less than 7,000 to hit the first milestone in tourist arrivals for the current year.

    As the Maldives is expected to welcome it’s millionth arrival soon, the country’s year-to-date tourist arrivals has observed a 9.3% increment. By the same period last year, tourist arrivals to the country was at 904,983 exactly.

    Tourist arrivals to the Maldives exclusively in the month of June (from 01st to 25th) has gone up by 5.6% compared to a year back in the same month. For the same duration in June 2023, Maldives had welcomed 95,739 tourists; whereas this year, the count is 101,083.

    • January – 192,385 | 11.5%+
    • February – 217,392 | 22.2%+
    • March – 194,227 | 11.9%+
    • April – 168,366 | 2.4%+
    • May – 119,875 | -0.9%
    • June (01st-25th) – 101,083 | 5.6%

    Meanwhile, arrivals from two markets have already exceeded beyond the 100,000th-mark – China and Russia, in that order. India, which had been the top source market to the Maldives from 2020 to 2023, is still in sixth spot without moving either side in ranks.
