    Maldives welcomes one millionth tourist arrival

    Maldives welcomes Sutapa Amornvirat, the one-millionth tourist arrival of 2024

    Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) welcomed the one millionth tourist of 2024.

    MMPRC on Thursday morning, welcomed Sutapa Amornvirat, a Thai national, who arrived in the Maldives with her family on AirAsia flight FD 175 at 11:15hrs.

    This is her third trip the Maldives, following her honeymoon. She and her family will be holidaying at Niyama Maldives.

    Visit Maldives hosted a very special event in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, to celebrate this milestone at Velana International Airport (VIA), joined by other government authorities such as the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), Maldives Immigration, and Maldives Customs Service.

    A special holiday was offered to Sutapa and her family, courtesy of Sun Siyam Resorts.

    “Reaching the milestone of 1 million tourist arrivals is a testament to the enduring allure of the Maldives and the unwavering dedication of our tourism industry stakeholders. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all our partners, from travel agencies to hospitality providers, whose commitment and hard work have made this achievement possible. Together, we continue to set new standards of excellence and create unforgettable experiences for our visitors.”

    Speaking about the milestone Maldives achieved on Thursday, CEO and Managing Director of MMPRC, Ibrahim Shiuree said, “It is a tribute to the combined efforts of the Maldives’ tourism industry to have welcomed one million tourists earlier than the previous year.”
