The council of Maafushi reveals plans to launch a floating waterpark ahead of the upcoming Eid ul-Adha celebrations. According to the council, the floating waterpark will remain open for 8 hours for the first three days following debut; with the opening time starting at 08:00hrs in the morning. To ensure safety of attendees, the council also affirmed installing lifeguard posts and appointment of lifeguards who will be active at the waterpark site. Maldives state collected a total of MVR96.59 million in green tax for the month of May 2022, reported the Ministry of Finance. Green tax is levied on all tourism properties, at a rate of USD6.00 per day on tourist resorts, vessels and hotels and USD3.00 per day on guesthouses. All tourism properties in accordance with the Maldives Tax Act are liable for green tax automatically upon registration of the properties at Ministry of Tourism. Bank of Maldives has announced the winners of the bank’s Startup Grant scheme on Tuesday,  28th June. According to Ministry of Finance in their most recent Weekly Fiscal Developments, the cumulative total of state expenditure has reached MVR15,954.4 million (MVR15.95 billion) as of 16th June 2022. On the other hand, the cumulative total of state revenues inclusive of foreign grants by the same review period reached MVR12,319.1 million (MVR12.3 billion). Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) launches its Raajje-Transport Link (RTL) high-speed ferry services in Haa Alif atoll. State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) announced that parts of Maafannu district of Maldives capital city will experience power outages on Sunday, 26th June. According to the utility provider, it will be conducting a transformer upgrade work between 13:00hrs and 15:45hrs on Sunday afternoon.
