Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) announces it will disburse MVR25,000 each to its employees. The bonus is disbursed to the company’s employees from retained profits of the fiscal year of 2021. This marks the first time since two years MACL is disbursing bonuses, which halted in 2020. During the previous round of bonus pay in 2019, employees each received MVR7,870.79 while bonus payment this year it is thrice this amount. Oil prices traded lower Monday, 15th August, in light of new economic data from China that renewed concerns for a global recession. Brent crude futures dipped by USD3.05, a 3.1% drop, trading at USD95.10 per barrel after dropping 1.5% on Friday, 12th August. Bank of Maldives (BML) has once again stressed its customers to remain vigilant owing to new wave of scam calls. The bank has advised its customers against sharing sensitive information with individuals calling under various pretexts. BML stressed out its policies regarding contacting individual customers. According to BML, the bank will not contact its customers requesting sensitive information related to personal banking accounts. Public Relations Manager of the bank, Mohamed Saeed had warned against the scam calls. He had noted on several customers losing significant amounts from their savings.
