Liverpool FC has welcomed Visit Maldives to its prestigious global partnership portfolio in a move that unites two world-renowned brands dedicated to offering extraordinary experiences. The multi-year agreement establishes Visit Maldives as the club’s official tourist destination partner, aiming to elevate the Maldives’ reputation as a premier travel destination worldwide.

This collaboration encompasses both the men’s and women’s teams, bringing fans closer to the beauty and cultural richness of the Maldives. By leveraging Liverpool FC’s vast global reach, Visit Maldives seeks to highlight the diverse activities, historical heritage, and breathtaking scenery of the island nation, which has been crowned the world’s leading destination for five consecutive years.

To mark the launch of this partnership, Liverpool FC supporters will have the chance to win an unforgettable five-night trip to the Maldives, including flights and accommodation, through an exclusive MyLFC competition. Fans can also look forward to special promotions, unique content, and competitions featuring once-in-a-lifetime prizes throughout the partnership.

The announcement follows a landmark year for Maldivian tourism in 2024, with Visit Maldives setting an ambitious target of $5 billion in tourism receipts for 2025. The campaign will capitalize on Liverpool FC’s immense digital presence, which boasts more than 200 million global followers and generated nearly 12 billion views and 1.5 billion fan engagements last season – the highest among all Premier League clubs.

With Liverpool FC also being the most-watched team globally in the Premier League, accumulating an audience of 471 million last season, the partnership is poised to maximize Visit Maldives’ exposure to a vast international audience.

Beyond promoting the Maldives as a travel hotspot, the partnership will emphasize sustainable tourism and ocean conservation. Given the Maldives’ vulnerability to climate change and rising sea levels, the collaboration will align with Liverpool FC’s award-winning sustainability initiative, The Red Way, to raise awareness and promote eco-friendly travel practices.

    Official Statements

Ben Latty, chief commercial officer at Liverpool FC, expressed his enthusiasm: “We’re very excited to welcome Visit Maldives into the Liverpool FC family as our official tourist destination partner. Together, we share a passion for creating unforgettable experiences that bring people together in meaningful ways.

“We also share a commitment to sustainability, whether through our The Red Way programme or Visit Maldives’ initiatives to protect delicate marine ecosystems. We look forward to supporting each other in these vital areas moving forward.”

Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and managing director of Visit Maldives, echoed this sentiment: “Partnering with a club as iconic as Liverpool FC, which shares our commitment to driving positive change towards a more sustainable future, is a proud moment for Visit Maldives.

“Together, we’ll offer exclusive opportunities and experiences, bringing the magic of the Maldives to millions of passionate fans worldwide. We’re particularly thrilled about the MyLFC competition and the chance to give one lucky fan the trip of a lifetime to the Sunny Side of Life.”

With this strategic partnership, Liverpool FC and Visit Maldives embark on an exciting journey to connect football fans with one of the world’s most coveted travel destinations, reinforcing the Maldives as the ultimate getaway while championing sustainability efforts on a global scale.
