Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) has signed a global advertising agreement with BBC Global News.
Under the agreement, BBC Global will be incorporating their in-house commercial content studio; BBC Storyworks.
The agreement was signed by the Chief Executive of MMPRC, Mr. Thoyyib Mohamed on behalf of the tourism promoter and the Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations of BBC Studios, Mr. Nick Charlton on behalf of the news conglomerate.
According to the global advertising agreement, MMPRC will launch an international advertising campaign with BBC Global News that is designed to showcase the Maldives as a safe, prepared and welcoming tourist luxury destination.
Mr. Thoyyib Mohamed had spoken about the agreement, stating that the arrangement falls in line with the tourism promoter’s global strategies for the years with an acute focus on maintaining the visibility of the Maldives as a top-of-the-mind holiday destination.
Moreover, he added that the campaign will promote Maldives tourism among potential tourists while different aspects and segments of the island nation’s tourism will be incorporated in the promotional content including the stories of Maldivian locals – shared globally through BBC Travel.
Meanwhile, Alistair McEwan, the Senior Vice President, Commercial Development APAC of BBC Global News said, “as consumers we continue to dream about their next travel opportunities and choices of destination, audiences are seeking clear information on safe travel and tourism, as well as wanting to be inspired by amazing destinations, cultures and experiences.”

The activities within the campaign are further aligned with MMPRC’s global marketing strategies with a primary focus on maintaining tourism sustainability from December 2021 through March 2022.
Relevant and engaging content about the people, places and culture of the Maldives will be shown during the campaign to accentuate Maldives being a wonderful, diverse and unique tourist destination.
MMPRC is amplifying its tourism promotion efforts this year while 2022 will also mark the Golden Jubilee of Maldivian tourism; precisely in October.
