Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) is taking part in the MATKA Nordic Travel Fair 2023.

The travel trade fair kicked off on 19th January and will last until 22nd January. This year’s MATKA Nordic Travel Fair is held at the Messukeskus Helsinki Expo and Convention Center, in Helsinki, Finland.

MMPRC is accompanied by 13 industry partners, and this is the first time the Maldivian premier tourism promotion body is taking part since 2020.

MATKA is the largest travel fair in Northern Europe, bringing together over 1,000 travel organizers, destinations, and tourism organizations from over 80 countries.

Over 68,000 visitors are expected to attend the travel fair.

MMPRC is taking part in the fair to strengthen the Maldives’ brand presence in the Nordic market, provide an extensive networking platform for industry partners, and provide access to ground-breaking insights into industry trends and patterns.

The Nordic market is a promising market for the Maldivian tourism industry, while in 2022, the Ministry of Tourism reported an annual total of 30,493 arrivals from the region.

MMPRC conducted several campaigns throughout 2022 in this market, which included a campaign with Blixen tours, a media familiarization trip with top-tier Nordic publications, and a webinar for the Nordic travel trade last year. The tourism promoter confirms that in line with the marketing strategy for the Nordic market, MMPRC will be working with airlines, tour operators, and other travel industry vendors to further strengthen the destination presence.

MMPRC conducted over 90 programs, attended 42 fairs, hosted 06 roadshows, 10 virtual events, 18 familiarization trips, and 10 other events worldwide in 2022.
