The Bank of Maldives on Monday, December 29, made official announcement of its latest venture – a new affordable housing project which would see the development of more than 3,000 units. The national bank’s subsidiary is in charge of this initiative, which added that it has signed on developers during a ceremony held at Hulhumale’ Phase II on Monday. The Maldives state has earned a revenue of MVR 18.58 billion (inclusive of foreign grants) as of June 26th, according to the Ministry of Finance. As per the ministry’s data, the state has earned this much on a cumulative year-to-date basis. During the same period, the government’s spending has reached MVR 17.95 billion which meant the overall balance for the period is a surplus of MVR 628.2 million. Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) data reveals the state earned MVR 2.63 billion in June 2025, a 27.0% increase compared to the same month in 2024. According to MIRA, the total revenue collected in June this year included USD 116.73 million. Total revenue in the review month increased mainly due to higher collections of TGST, Green Tax, and land acquisition and conversion fee.
