    Tourist arrivals exceed 1.7Mn first time since Covid

    Tourist arrivals to the Maldives exceed 1.7 million first time since 2020

    Tourist arrivals to the Maldives exceeds 1.7 million so far this year, the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 hit the island nation.

    As of December 06, the total tourist arrivals to the Maldives has been reported at exactly 1,713,679; which is a 12.8% annual increment from the same period last year. In 2022, for the same period, total arrivals stood at 1,518,965.

    In 2021, the annual arrivals by the same period stood at 1,184,174; which had indicated a notable bounce-back from the pandemic’s economic brunt a year earlier.

    The annual total arrival in 2022 stood at 1,675,303 and in 2021, the annual arrivals stood at 1,321,937.

    Meanwhile, the daily arrival average stood at 5,131 in annual terms and the average duration of stay is 7.6 days in annual terms.
