The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) has announced the termination of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) Managing Director Fathmath Thaufeeq, and the Chairman of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Ahmed Zuhoor. The MMPRC Managing Director, Fathmath Thaufeeq, commonly referred as Kudu, was appointed to lead the state tourism board last December. Her dismissal had followed the resignations of MMPRC’s Chairperson Aysha Nurain Janah and its board member Rafil Mohamed. The Chairperson of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) Aysha Nurain Janah has officially resigned from her post. Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) on Thursday morning confirmed Nurain’s resignation of its official X handle. PCB added Nurain tendered her resignation on Wednesday. The board also said it had “accepted her resignation” and accordingly removed her from the position. Despite abrupt resignation move, neither Nurain nor any government source commented the reason for her exit. Employees of State Electric Company (STELCO) rescued multiple children stranded in sea amid a storm on Tuesday afternoon, at AA. Thoddoo. STELCO highlighted the bravery and quick thinking by its employees in hasting the rescue efforts to children before any unfortunate circumstances rose. Besides rescuing the children in sea, STELCO employees had removed debris from the streets and roofs of Thoddoo. STELCO said it remains committed in serving the public in all their needs, besides extending affordable utility services.
The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) on Tuesday, confirmed the termination of Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO)’s CEO Ahmed Samah Rasheed. Samah’s termination as MIFCO’s CEO and the company’s board member was confirmed not a month after he was reinstated following a suspension. He was placed under a 14-day suspension earlier on March 18, 2024, when PCB announced his employment was suspended owing to a complain over a corporate governance issue, for which the board needed to run an inquiry.
