Russia’s leisure airline Nordwind announces commencing their direct flight operations to the Maldives during the winter season of 2021. According to the airline, they will operate between Russia’s St. Petersburg and Maldives capital Male’ City with weekly flights scheduled on Sundays. According to the latest updates from the Ministry of Tourism, the Maldives recorded its highest daily arrival count on Sunday, 05th December 2021. On the official Twitter handle of the ministry, it was reported that the tourist arrivals accounted for on Sunday, current week, reached a total of 6269; which is the highest daily arrival total since Maldives reopened its borders on July 2020. Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) confirms that the commercial harbor authority will be expanding its service prices effective from January 2022 onward. In a circular released by the commercial harbor authority, changes have been planned by the company towards re-shipping, express clearing and late submission services. The President of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday, 06th December, ratified the first amendment to the Sole Proprietorship Act (Act No. 19/2014). Earlier, the amendment was passed by Maldives Parliament at the 44th sitting of the chamber’s third session back on 29th November 2021. The amendment to the Sole Proprietorship reflects on the extension of the validity period of sole proprietorships from 05 years to 10 years, while the registration renewal period has been extended to 01 year from 90 days. Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has signed an agreement with Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment to train individuals under the “Hunavaru Technical Skills Program 2021.” At the signing ceremony, held on 06th December 2021, Monday, the agreement was signed between the Chief Executive of MTCC Adam Azim and State Minister Hussain Ismail on behalf of the company and the government, respectively. Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced on the reduction of the bank’s Home Loan interest rates to 9%; making it the lowest rate on a bank issued loan available in the country.
