    Maldives tourist arrival observes over 1750% increment in late-August

    Tourist arrivals to Maldives observe over 1750% improvement in August 2021

    Ministry of Tourism has reported that the tourist arrivals to Maldives, from 01st until 25th August 2021 observed an increment of 1,754.3% tourist arrivals in comparison with the same period in 2020.

    Moreover, the state body confirms that the total arrival to Maldives on a year-to-date basis has reached 732,896 by the review date.

    According to the latest statistics from the ministry, the total tourist arrivals exclusive in August from 01st until 25th stood at 120,529 which is already a 0.2% improvement from the same period in 2019, where the arrival was at 120,341 while in 2020 the arrival during the period stood at just 6,500.

    Furthermore, Russia has maintained first rank as the top source market to Maldives with a total arrival of 157,876 so far which also translates to 21.5% of the total tourist arrivals to the country.

    On the other hand, India rested at second spot with a total arrival of 146,205 so far which is 19.9% of the total tourist arrivals and Germany landed at third spot with an arrival count of 42,078 so far, which is 5.7% of the total arrivals.

    Other top source markets to Maldives include USA (29,589 arrivals), Ukraine (26,920 arrivals), Saudi Arabia (24,844 arrivals), Spain (21,195 arrivals), Kazakhstan (17,334 arrivals), United Kingdom (17,281 arrivals) and France (14,340 arrivals).
