    Tourist arrivals exceed 1.27 million by late October

    Tourist arrivals to Maldives exceed 1.27m by late October, reports Ministry of Tourism

    Tourist arrivals to the Maldives exceed 1.27 million as of 19th October, reports Ministry of Tourism.

    The ministry revealed the total tourist arrivals as of review date stood at 1,279,231. This was a 34.1% annual increment when compared with 2021, but 4.3% lower than the same period in 2019.

    Tourist arrivals for corresponding period in 2021 stood at 953,725, while for the same period in 2019 it stood at 1,337,178.

    Daily arrival average is at 4,381 in annual terms, while from 01st to 19th October the daily arrival average is at 4,664. The average duration of stay is 8.1 days in annual terms, from 01st to 19th October, average duration of stay is at 7.8 days.

    Top source market rankings remain unchanged. The details are as follows;

    1. India: 180,255 arrivals
    2. Russia: 155,490 arrivals
    3. UK: 139,788 arrivals
    4. Germany: 103,828 arrivals
    5. Italy: 72,108 arrivals
    6. USA: 60,345 arrivals
    7. France: 37,005 arrivals
    8. Spain: 33,598 arrivals
    9. Saudi Arabia: 28,431 arrivals
    10. Switzerland: 26,778 arrivals

    Meanwhile, Maldives currently has 170 registered tourist resorts, 872 guesthouses and hotels as well as 156 safari vessels.
