    International Maldives Travel Market announce the third edition of its Sustainable Tourism Forum (STF) 2022 will be held at Manhattan Business Hotel, Male’ City.

    The IMTM Sustainable Tourism Forum is a travel-centric platform connecting stakeholders of Maldives tourism industry, and encourage them to engage in dialogue on issues related to social, economic and environmental sustainability in the tourism sector. The forum’s organizer aims provide education and inspire the industry as a whole, to make the island nation a sustainable tourist destination.

    The third edition of STF is scheduled on 3rd and 4th December 2022. The primary theme for this year’s forum is “What is Sustainable Tourism? Interpretations and Discourses of Sustainable Tourism in the Maldives”.

    This year’s forum also targets to expand its scope to designing and creating standards for sustainable tourism in Maldives, and produce knowledge-based products to contribute to the global understanding of sustainability within the sector.

    IMTM reports the forum will be conducted in five sessions, spread across the two-day meet. The sessions will focus on;

    • Session one: concepts, trends and policies relating to sustainable tourism
    • Session two: sustainability in practice
    • Session three: group work
    • Session four: group work (continued)
    • Session five: synthesizing

    A key outcome of STF 2022 will be to identify the criteria for sustainable tourism in the Maldivian context, and identify how these can be replicated among other small island nations.
